Best person for Maldives President

I am obviously biased in my opinion that Dr. Mohammed Waheed Hassan should be the next president of Maldives. Even considering my bias, my opinion is based on qualifications. There is no one of Dr. Waheed's calibur, whether it's professional qualities, ethical integrity or educational background.

Maldives is a small nation flying under the radar of most all international news. Most people know Maldives only as a tropical resort destination. Not many know that it is a seriously backwards place. The resort workers get paid little more than $300 a month and are excluded from the new labor and minimum wage laws that were just passed. Most of the uninhabited islands are being developed into resorts to which the average Maldivian has no chance of visiting. There is and abundance of drug usage in the counrty and the youth of Maldives have very few employment opportunities whether they are educated or not. The criminal laws, traffic laws, environmental laws.... all laws are seriously lacking in structure and depth.

Who better to bring change to our country than someone with an open mind who understands the plight of all Maldivians, has experience in running large scale organizations (some larger than the Maldivian government) and who has the interests of the Maldivian people at heart. Dr. Waheed is the only potential candidate thus far not affiliated with corruption.
