First Morning in Maldives

ViewToday is our first day in Maldives. The kids are having a blast and seem to have been having a great time. Jaz has learnt the Dhivehi alphabet and Sam is working on his Dhivehi alphabet.

I will write more soon but I wanted to upload some pics of our view from this house.

Politics in a small country.

In order to achieve true change in Maldives I believe that all parties with a common goal must unite. Rioting in the streets, violence and negative actions will only lead to more strife.

There are too many different parties and small factions within the country. With a population of much less than a million people, I see no reason why people cannot work together and get along.

Here are some questions I think each potential leader should ask him/her self:
1. Why am I running for presidency?
2. Is my goal to improve the quality of life for every Maldivian?

Letting my kids travel without their parents

I had a very hard time letting my kids ages 6 and 7 go half way across the world to Maldives without me. I didn't think that this would be so hard for me since they would be with my brother who takes excellent care of them. Until I knew they landed in Maldives I was completely stressed, worried and anxious.

I created a Manual for my parents so that they knew what to do with the kids while they were with them... I think it helped but I got teased a lot for worrying too much :) The manual includes directions for what they should do every day which might have been a little excessive. Here is a copy of what I put in there:

If Search Engines were softdrinks

search engines as soda cans

Recently I was asked to create an image for an article depicting which soft drink each search engine would be if it were a soft drink. View "Search Engines, the 21st Century Soft Drinks" for the article. While trying to create this image... I fell in love with my D40X Nikon all over again. Taking consistent pictures of the actual soda cans was a breeze.
