Politics in a small country.

In order to achieve true change in Maldives I believe that all parties with a common goal must unite. Rioting in the streets, violence and negative actions will only lead to more strife.

There are too many different parties and small factions within the country. With a population of much less than a million people, I see no reason why people cannot work together and get along.

Here are some questions I think each potential leader should ask him/her self:
1. Why am I running for presidency?
2. Is my goal to improve the quality of life for every Maldivian?
3. Am I truly qualified for this job?

From what I can tell there are too many who are in it for the money or to gain power. Most do not have the experience or qualification. Almost everyone wants an immediate change in one direction or another.

I think that no matter who wins in the next elections Maldives is in for a time of turmoil and that it will take a long time to effect change. When things happen I can only hope that the Maldives of the future is one in which I can be proud to call home.
